Sherman Kemp, Florida fugitive wanted for drug trafficking, captured in Santo Domingo
The DNCD and US Marshals arrested Sherman Kemp, alias "Goose", in the National District. The American citizen had been a fugitive since September 2026.

Fugitive from Florida with 30-year drug trafficking sentence captured in Santo Domingo
Sherman Kemp, aged 47, known as "Goose" and considered one of Florida's most wanted fugitives, was detained on Leonardo Da Vinci Street in the National District in a joint operation between the National Drug Control Authority (DNCD) and the United States Marshals Service (US Marshals), according to n.com.do.
Kemp had escaped on 11 September 2026 during a prison transfer under a temporary release regime. He had remained a fugitive from American justice since then.
The American citizen was serving an accumulated sentence of almost 30 years in prison for offences prosecuted in the District of Maryland and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The charges include conspiracy to distribute more than five kilogrammes of cocaine, possession of firearms linked to drug trafficking, intent to distribute more than 500 grammes of cocaine, and conspiracy to distribute heroin, among other federal offences.
The arrest was the result of intelligence work and surveillance conducted in a coordinated manner by Dominican and American authorities. The DNCD emphasised that the operation was made possible through the exchange of information and international cooperation between both countries.
Kemp had also gained public notoriety in 2004 when he appeared in the video "Stop Snitching", distributed in Baltimore and linked to intimidation campaigns against witnesses to prevent their cooperation with judicial authorities.
Following his capture, he was deported to the United States via Las Américas International Airport (AILA), bound for Miami, where he was taken into custody by American marshals.
