Four arrested over jewellery store robbery in Santiago; money and illegal weapon recovered
The National Police arrested four men linked to the theft of jewellery and cash at a jewellery store on San Luis Street in Santiago.
Four arrested following jewellery store robbery in central Santiago
The National Police detained four men identified as suspected perpetrators of the robbery of a jewellery store located on San Luis Street in the urban centre of Santiago, according to acento.com.do reported on Tuesday.
The detainees were identified as Marcos José García de la Cruz, Andy José Castillo Jiménez, Delvinson Luis Restituyo Mejía and Heber Isaac Burgos García. At the time of their arrest, the four were travelling in a Honda CR-V vehicle.
Following the operation, the authorities transferred them to the headquarters of the Central Cibao Regional Directorate of the Police, where they seized RD$36,150 in cash, 4,895 grammes of silver, four mobile phones, gloves, balaclavas, a pistol without legal documents and four cartridges, in addition to other evidence.
The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry as investigations into the robbery continue, in which jewellery items are also allegedly believed to have been stolen from the jewellery store.
