A man nicknamed "Muñingo" was found in a property in the Toledo municipality of Illescas, where he had been in hiding for some time. The officers who detained him in late June had been searching for him over a crime committed on the Caribbean island.
The incident dates back to December 2022, in the province of Santo Domingo Este. According to the investigation, the alleged perpetrator attacked his victim in a public place, striking him with a baseball bat on the head and other parts of the body. Despite receiving medical attention, the person died a few days later.
In his native country, the crime could result in a sentence of up to three decades behind bars. Since then, international authorities had him on their wanted list.
Clues led investigators to Spanish territory. In February, the National Court issued an order for his extradition. It was also learned that he had breached the restrictions that had previously been imposed on him.
For weeks, investigators observed that the man never left his hideout, a family house in Illescas. From there, he received food, supplies, and visits from relatives and friends. Finally, officers succeeded in capturing him and handed him over to the judges for the processing of his return to Dominican authorities.
