Units from the DICRIM and Preventive Police, together with prosecutors, raided several properties in the southern zone. They seized a pistol, three homemade shotguns, a military jacket, adulterated rum and illegal tobacco. The occupants escaped.

Officers from the National Police, in conjunction with representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out a series of house searches in sectors of the city of Barahona and the municipality of Cabral. The procedures, authorised through legal channels, were conducted by personnel from the DICRIM and the preventive component.
During the inspections, the seizure was made of one 9 mm calibre automatic pistol, equipped with its magazine and twenty-three rounds. Likewise, three homemade firearms, known as "chilenas", nine 12-calibre shotgun cartridges, a jacket for the exclusive use of the armed forces, twenty-nine containers of spirits of dubious origin and three packets of cigarettes introduced to the market clandestinely were discovered.
The police report indicates that the individuals found at the raided locations managed to flee upon noticing the arrival of agents. At this time, follow-up work is being carried out to locate them and bring them before the courts.
The institution noted that these actions form part of the targeted operations being executed in the Enriquillo region. The purpose is to reduce crime, remove unauthorised weaponry and tackle illicit activities that harm the community.
All seized material was handed over to the prosecutor's office for custody. The investigation continues in order to clarify responsibilities and determine whether the facts are related to a larger criminal organisation.
