Three arrested and drugs seized following police operation in La Vega
Agents attached to the Regional Intelligence Directorate of the National Police conducted a raid in an area of La Vega, specifically in the sector known as El Riito, where they discovered an abandoned building being used for the sale of narcotics.
During the operation, officers succeeded in seizing a batch of small bags containing suspected marijuana—sixty-seven in total—along with twenty-five wrappings of suspected crack. In addition, cash amounting to one thousand eight hundred and ninety Dominican pesos was found, and a Baofeng brand radio device, apparently used to coordinate criminal activities.
When the officers arrived at the site, those inside fled, abandoning the drugs and money. The agents took the opportunity to collect everything left at the location.
In parallel, three people who were in the vicinity were detained: a twenty-seven-year-old woman named Yamilet Morfe Abreu; a sixty-nine-year-old man called Juan Tomás Guzmán Lora; and another male, thirty-nine years old, identified as Wilmin Jeancarlos Rivas López. All three were taken into custody to be questioned about their possible connection to the distribution point.
The seized material and those arrested were transferred to the corresponding judicial authorities to continue with the legal process. Investigations into this distribution network remain active.
