A group of three brothers, one of them a minor, voluntarily went to the offices of the Dominican police after authorities deployed an intensive operation to locate them. The young men are suspects in the murder of a delivery worker in the Hato Mayor sector of Santiago de los Caballeros.
The identified individuals are Eudis Martínez Henríquez, nicknamed "El Pana", aged 21; Anneudy Rafael Cabrera Henríquez, known as "Cocote", aged 19; and a 16-year-old adolescent. Since last weekend they had been actively sought by security forces following the violent incident recorded at a food establishment where the deceased person worked.
The victim was named Joel Rivera Heredia, aged 24, and was known in the area as "King". According to the uniformed officers' account, the death occurred during a fight that escalated to the point where someone inflicted several stab wounds on him. The coroner confirmed that injuries from a sharp instrument were the cause of death.
As police agents closed in and their faces were circulated, the three decided to appear before the Regional Investigation Subdivision (DICRIM) along with relatives. They were taken into custody so that the Public Ministry could continue with judicial proceedings. It has not been ruled out that other persons may be linked to the crime.
Diego Pesqueira, spokesperson for the National Police, communicated the details through his social media profiles. He noted that the surrender of those involved was made possible thanks to the pressure from the operations deployed and the support of residents in the area.
The law enforcement institution reiterated that it will continue with patrols in Santiago and other provinces across the country, with the goal of curbing violence and resolving pending cases.
