Four military officers sentenced for major fraud against the State
A Dominican Republic court condemned three senior military commanders on Tuesday to 20 years in prison for defrauding the State of more than 4.5 billion pesos, equivalent to approximately 75 million dollars, according to abc.es reporting information from the EFE agency.
Those sentenced to 20 years in prison are Major General Adán Cáceres Silvestre, General Juan Carlos Torres Robio and Colonel Rafael Núñez de Aza. General Julio Camilo De los Santos Viola received a sentence of 15 years.
The Dominican Public Ministry described the sentence as "historic", in reference to the scale of the ruling against figures of such high rank within the country's armed forces.
