A juvenile court in Santo Domingo Este has decided that an adolescent remain detained for one month as part of the investigation into the death of a twelve-year-old girl in the municipality of Boca Chica.

The judicial ruling established that the youth must serve the deprivation of liberty at the facility known as Ciudad del Niño. The magistrates scheduled a new hearing for 15 July, at which time they will review whether the conditions of the case allow the imposed restriction to be altered, maintained, or lifted.

The unfortunate incident took place the previous Tuesday in the area known as El Valiente, located within the municipal district of La Caleta, in the municipality of Boca Chica. There the lifeless body of Zarah Diroché Montero was discovered, who was only twelve years old.

The body was taken to the facilities of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences, where specialists will conduct the necessary procedures to determine with precision what caused the death.

At the scene where the incident occurred, investigators found and secured various objects. Among these was a sharp object as well as containers that held alcohol.

The authorities clarified that another minor was also apprehended and is under the surveillance of law enforcement. It is presumed that both had some type of involvement in the events that led to the death of the child.
