Point-blank shooting in private residential development on the Costa road
A man was shot dead inside the Puerto Azul residential area, on the Costa road, north-west of Guayaquil, teleamazonas.com reported. The attack occurred on the afternoon of Friday 31 July 2026, on the streets Matilde Salvador and Santistevan.
The victim, identified as Pedro Pablo C., had just arrived in his vehicle when he was intercepted by armed men who fired at him at point-blank range. His wife was arriving at the residential area at that same moment and witnessed the crime at close range; the driver accompanying her attempted to help the injured man, but was also shot.
Following the attackers' escape, the woman transported her partner to a health centre, where doctors confirmed his death. The incident generated upheaval on social media.
The administration of Puerto Azul issued a statement confirming that it is collaborating with the investigation. According to the statement, the entity handed over to the National Police access to all security cameras in the private residential development to facilitate the identification of those responsible.
