A man was shot dead on the afternoon of Friday, 31 July 2026 in the Puerto Azul development, located on the Vía a la Costa in Guayaquil, according to vistazo.com.
The attack occurred around 16:00 on Matilde Amador Santistevan Street, opposite the BTC project. According to preliminary information, the victim was attacked with gunfire as he arrived at his home and was found lying inside a white vehicle.
His wife, who was travelling behind in another vehicle, reportedly witnessed the incident. The driver accompanying her got out to attempt to help the victim, without success. The man was taken to a health centre, where his death was confirmed.
In videos circulated on social media, people can be heard calling for help and asking others to contact the security gatehouse in the sector. Police units arrived at the scene to conduct the corresponding procedures. The victim's identity remains unknown at this time.
The incident caused alarm in the housing development, given that it occurred near a shopping centre in the area.
The Puerto Azul development issued a statement asserting that it has activated an internal emergency protocol and is collaborating directly with the National Police, providing camera footage, access records and other relevant information for the investigation.
