In the south of Ecuador's capital, an individual was arrested after residents of the neighbourhood alerted law enforcement due to shouting and gunshots.

Residents of the Guamaní neighbourhood, located in the southern zone of the capital, heard shouting and a gunshot from inside a house. In response to the situation, they contacted law enforcement, who arrived immediately to intervene in what was considered a possible fatal attack against a woman.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers succeeded in detaining a 26-year-old individual who was carrying a pistol. According to the police report, he had intimidated his household partner whilst apparently under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
The head of the Quitumbe District police force, Roberto Ramírez, confirmed that the arrested individual already had an active arrest warrant for contempt of court orders. Additionally, the detainee had previously had problems with the law for theft. At the time of his detention, various bottles of liquor were seized from him.
The victim did not suffer physical harm, according to information provided by officers, although further details regarding her condition have not been released. For the moment, investigations remain open. The accused was handed over to the competent judges to determine his legal status.
