Three family members murdered in Fertisa, south Guayaquil

Woman shot five times while returning to residence in south Guayaquil
According to extra.ec, Gloria María López Ávila, 48, was murdered on the afternoon of Monday 20 July while walking back to her home in the 9 de Julio cooperative, Fertisa sector, south Guayaquil.
The woman had left her home with the purpose of withdrawing money from a shop, paying utility bills and buying food. On the way back, individuals travelling by motorcycle intercepted her and shot her several times. According to police information, the body received five bullet impacts and was left lying on the road, in view of neighbours in the sector, who alerted the authorities.
A relative of the victim told officers that Gloria had worked for several years at a shrimp farm, an activity she left to dedicate herself to selling beer from her own home. The relative indicated that the woman had no known conflicts with other people and that her main objective was to support her family.
However, a police source indicated that the victim was also known in the sector for practising esoteric practices and that she allegedly had some link with activities related to drug trafficking. This information is part of the lines of investigation and has not been officially confirmed.
The case takes on additional dimensions due to violent antecedents within the same family unit. According to investigators, months earlier one of Gloria's sons was reported as missing and subsequently found dead. Furthermore, it became known that her romantic partner had reportedly been murdered some time before.
The Police are keeping investigations open to identify those responsible for the attack and establish the motive of the crime.
