A man died and another was wounded following an armed attack in the Puerto Azul residential complex, on the coastal road in Guayaquil, on Friday 31 July.

Pedro Pablo Chávez Chávez died and John Jairo Chamorro Villarreal was wounded following a shooting that occurred on Friday 31 July, around 16:00, inside the Puerto Azul residential complex, located on the coastal road in Guayaquil, according to extra.ec.
The attack took place in an area near the shopping plaza of the residential complex, close to entrance 2 of the sector. The incident caused immediate alarm among residents and bystanders who were in the vicinity at the time of the shooting.
Units of the National Police responded immediately following the report of the incident. Several officers were deployed at the scene to preserve evidence and ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the residential complex.
As of 17:45, authorities had not confirmed official details about the crime. Around 18:30 the death of Chávez Chávez was confirmed as a result of gunshot wounds, as well as the injuries suffered by Chamorro Villarreal.
Images and videos of the police operation circulated rapidly on social media, showing the cordon established by uniformed officers inside the residential complex. By press time, at least four vehicles from the National Police's investigative units remained at the scene conducting the corresponding forensic examinations, along with a vehicle from Segura EP that also arrived to provide support in the area.
