Venezuelan arrested in El Oro after death of teenage daughter
A Venezuelan man was detained on 30 August in the Los Girasoles neighbourhood, south of Pasaje, in El Oro province, after his 14-year-old daughter was found dead inside the apartment the family shared. According to lanoticiadebarinas.com, citing local media outlet Diario Opinión, a four-year-old son was also seriously injured during the incident.
At around 2:00 in the afternoon, neighbours alerted authorities after hearing cries for help, crying and breaking glass coming from the building. Officers entered through a window and subdued the suspect, who was removed from the scene in handcuffs, barefoot and without a shirt.
Police stated that the man had reddish marks on his body and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and other illicit substances. The teenager's body bore multiple blows and wounds. The four-year-old boy was rushed to a medical centre. A third child, aged two years, was rescued unharmed by the officers.
The case was recorded in Ecuador's coastal region and was initially reported by local media outlets in El Oro province.
