On Monday morning, electronic messages arrived threatening to destroy 84 different institutions. Among the targets were both educational facilities and childcare premises. The incident occurred at approximately 9 o'clock.
Pirko Pärila, operations chief of the Northern Police Prefecture, told Postimees that such warnings are not a new phenomenon. He noted that similar mass threat notifications began circulating in our country several years ago.
According to the Police and Border Guard Board, these emails are part of a larger pattern that has occurred repeatedly. The threatened buildings were evacuated and official authorities checked the credibility of the threats.
Such messages cause considerable disruption, damage people's sense of security and require significant resources from supervisory authorities. Recurring bomb threats have become increasingly common in Estonia.
