A Córdoba court has imposed a custodial sentence on Francisco L.A. for assaulting and threatening his ex-partner Tulia Ester 48 hours before she died allegedly at the hands of the same individual.
The court ruling imposes one year in prison for the intimidation and ten additional months for physical injuries, along with a monetary fine of 360 euros for property damage. The facts being sanctioned took place on 11 April at the victim's home, located on a passage in the Fuensanta neighbourhood.
According to the sentence, the accused, who already had a restraining order in place, arrived at his ex-wife's house at around three in the afternoon. After an initial argument, he left the property but returned shortly afterwards armed with a sledgehammer.
With that tool he destroyed the woman's music system. When she tried to take the object from him, they struggled until she managed to get it. Then he grabbed her by the torso and threw her forcefully against a wall before leaving. As he departed, he warned her that in her absence he would break into the home to destroy it.
The assault victim suffered injuries to the neck area and experienced an anxiety disorder. The same man is being investigated for the death of Tulia, which occurred on 13 April in the same Córdoba neighbourhood.
