Operation Kurt dismantled drug trafficking network
According to Libertad Digital, Guardia Civil officers have dismantled a criminal network based in Coín dedicated to the adulteration and distribution of drugs. The operation, named Kurt, resulted in the arrest of three people, whilst two international arrest warrants have been issued to locate other members of the organisation.
The investigation began months ago after gathering information about activity around two houses with strong security measures. Officers confirmed that the network used these houses as storage facilities following the receipt of merchandise, but also as clandestine laboratories where they reduced the purity of the substances to increase profits.
To carry out the mixing, members employed large volumes of chemical products such as acetone and sodium carbonate. Subsequently, the material was compacted using manual presses and custom-designed metal moulds, reconstructing the format into blocks that were sealed with distinctive marks.
Once prepared, the organisation coordinated road transport in vehicles modified with false bottoms. This system allowed them to evade police controls and transfer the shipments towards European destinations, especially France and Italy.
In the searches carried out at the two properties, investigators seized 68 kilograms of cocaine, over 500 litres of volatile solvents, 150 kilogrammes of chemical additives and 10,000 euros in cash. They also seized technical equipment, stills, presses and the magazine of an AK-47 submachine gun.
The Guardia Civil warned of the serious danger faced by neighbours due to the accumulation of highly flammable reagents with risk of deflagration. After appearing before the competent court, the three arrested individuals were remanded in custody.
