Arrest for online sexual exploitation
The Civil Guard has arrested a 47-year-old man in Linares (Jaén) accused of obtaining and distributing sexual content involving a 12-year-old minor. According to reports by Libertad Digital, the arrest resulted from investigations conducted by officers from the Valencia Command, which remain open to identify possible additional victims.
Deception began with a video game
The facts began in January 2026 when the detainee contacted the minor after responding to a post about video games. He asked the child to add him on social media and immediately began building a trust relationship by falsely claiming to share interest in sports cars and racing, whilst being fully aware he was communicating with a minor.
Escalation towards sexual content
The conversations gradually evolved towards topics of a sexual nature. The perpetrator transformed the initial relationship into a more intimate bond in order to ultimately request and obtain sexual images and videos of the child. Taking advantage of the anonymity offered by social media, he also sent the minor files containing paedophilic content.
Operation and seized evidence
Investigators analysed the profiles used by the suspected perpetrator and located him in Linares. During a house search, five mobile devices, 15 storage devices, three laptop computers and one desktop computer were seized. Officers do not rule out that the detainee established contact with other minors.
The proceedings have been handed over to the Civil and Investigative Section of the Catarroja Court.
