A repeat offender has been taken into custody in Orihuela following a joint operation by Local and National Police. The arrest came after officers confirmed his involvement in multiple armed robberies perpetrated during a single day, according to ABC.
The robbery that triggered the investigation took place in the early hours of 3 July at a restaurant in the Ociopía shopping centre. The venue's employees provided officers with a description of the robber, whilst the video surveillance systems of the business and the complex recorded the individual circling the area before the attack.
The footage showed the suspect with his face visible, which enabled Local Police officers to identify him without delay and provide his personal details and address. This information allowed the investigation to be directed from the outset and helped the National Police to continue inquiries in a coordinated manner.
Later, officers from both forces attended the suspect's residence to proceed with his apprehension. During the operation, it was confirmed that the arrested man also participated in other armed robberies with similar characteristics committed on the same date.
