Illegal explosives warehouse dismantled in Valencia
According to El Confidencial, the Civil Guard has arrested a man in Faura (Valencia) after locating an illegal warehouse containing approximately 400 kilos of unlicensed pyrotechnic material. The pyrotechnics sector operative was storing gunpowder, perchlorates and other explosive substances in a ground-floor unit in the urban area, without authorisation or safety measures.
Investigators have attributed two offences to the detainee: storage of explosives and endangering public safety. The man has previous convictions for a similar offence previously committed in Castellón. The investigation began when agents suspected he was covertly storing explosives and that part of the material had been acquired irregularly.
After deploying surveillance operations, investigators located the storage facility in Faura. During the inspection, they verified the presence of pyrotechnic articles and regulated explosive substances, all without the required authorisation and without the necessary safety measures. Agents believe the material came from diversions of pyrotechnic displays for which the detainee had been contracted by other companies.
The Civil Guard emphasises the serious risk posed by storing these substances without proper safety conditions, especially in populated areas. Agents from different units of the Valencia Command carried out the operation. The proceedings have been sent to the Civil and Investigation Section of the First Instance Court of Sagunto.
