A violent incident occurred on a train at Vantaa's Tikkurila railway station on Saturday afternoon. Police suspect a 16-year-old boy of the act, who managed to flee the scene of the incident.

The incident came to the authorities' attention when a bystander noticed the situation from the platform and made a report to the emergency number. A patrol arrived at the scene around 3.40 p.m. and found an 18-year-old man injured in the carriage. He had received two blows from a bladed weapon.

The perpetrator was not apprehended immediately, despite police searching the area around the station. The young person was eventually arrested later when authorities used surveillance camera footage and conducted their own investigation.

As the investigation progressed, it emerged that the injured party is also the subject of criminal suspicion. He is suspected of presenting a passenger at the station with a flare gun and thereby causing fear. In addition, he is suspected of possessing a prohibited implement.

The 16-year-old is suspected of committing aggravated assault. Authorities intend to request that he be remanded in custody.
