Kirkkonummi terraced house fire: three young men remanded in custody for attempted murder
West Uusimaa police are investigating an attempted murder in Kirkkonummi, where a lit firework was pushed into a terraced house flat during the night of 23 August. Seven residents and three cats were rescued.

The West Uusimaa police force is investigating attempted murder and aggravated destruction of property in Kirkkonummi after a terraced house flat caught fire in the early hours of Saturday 23 August. According to Ilta-Sanomat, authorities suspect the fire was deliberately set.
A report was made to the emergency services around 3 a.m. The flat was occupied by seven residents and three cats at the time of the incident – all managed to get out. No one was injured, but police have no further information on the condition of the cats.
The remains of a burnt firework were found in the flat. Detective Inspector Jutta Saarinen states in a police statement that the firework was allegedly pushed into the room from outside through a ventilation window.
– The fire is suspected to have been deliberately and deliberately set, Saarinen states in the statement.
Police sought a remand in custody order for three men in their early twenties. Ilta-Sanomat established that the remanded individuals are 18-, 19- and 21-year-old men. Currently, three people are remanded in custody, one is under arrest and one has been detained.
One of those remanded has a criminal background: the 19-year-old has previously been charged with, amongst other things, drink-driving, violent resistance to an official, and drug possession offences. One of the suspects has a registered address in Kirkkonummi.
According to authorities, the suspects or some of them knew the person living in the flat beforehand.
– The police cannot comment further at this stage of the investigation on possible motives. The course of events and their background are being clarified in the pre-trial investigation, which is ongoing.
