Three remanded on suspicion of attempted murder – townhouse fire breaks out in Kirkkonummi

Iltalehti reported that police suspect three young men born in the 2000s of attempted murder and serious destruction. The alleged acts took place on Sunday, 23 August in Kirkkonummi.

The District Court of Western Uusimaa remanded the suspects on Wednesday on probable cause. Charges in the matter must be brought by 1 December.

That same weekend, a townhouse fire broke out in Kirkkonummi. The rescue service contained the fire to its point of origin and rescued three cats from the flat. No persons were injured. Detective Inspector Jutta Saarinen declined to comment on whether the criminal investigation is connected to the fire in question, citing the protection of the investigation.

The oldest of the suspects was born in 2004, the two younger ones in 2007. According to official information, the oldest lives in Kirkkonummi; the younger ones' address details are protected, but they report on social media that they also live in Kirkkonummi.

One of the suspects has a prior criminal record. The now 19-year-old man has been convicted of four drug use offences that took place in 2023 when he was 16 years old. The sentence was 30 daily fines, totalling 180 euros. He has also been charged with drink-driving and assault on an official.
