Police investigating violent incident as murder in Martinlaakso
Eastern Uusimaa police are investigating a violent incident that occurred in Vantaa's Martinlaakso on Wednesday evening as a murder, Ilta-Sanomat reported. The scene was a private residence on Laajaniitynkuja where a man in his early twenties lived.
Investigation director, detective superintendent Sanna Rentola, states in a police statement that the preliminary investigation is still in its early stages. "At this point, we are unable to disclose specific details regarding, for example, the method or any possible motive," Rentola states.
According to police assessment, the homicide occurred on Wednesday evening between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Police arrived at the scene towards the end of that time period based on a report made to the emergency services centre. Rentola did not comment on who called the emergency services, nor would she comment on any possible arrests or the murder weapon, with the investigation still ongoing.
A neighbour living in the same building told Ilta-Sanomat that she noticed blood traces in the stairwell when leaving for work in the morning. Both police officers and ambulance personnel were present at that time. The neighbour reports that parties lasting several days were occasionally held in the flat and disturbances could be heard from it.
Police are requesting anyone with possible information about the case to contact them by email at [email protected] or by calling the tip line on 0295 436442. Information is particularly requested regarding Laajaniitynkuja during the Wednesday evening time period between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
