The East Uusimaa police are investigating as a murder a homicide that occurred in an apartment in Martinlaakso, Vantaa, on Wednesday, 26 August, according to Yle News.
The crime took place in an apartment in an apartment building located on Laajaniitynkuja in the evening, "quite late". The case's investigating officer, detective inspector Sanna Rentola, confirms that the scene of the incident is the victim's own apartment. The victim is a man aged slightly over 20.
The police received information about the incident through the emergency call centre. Rentola declines to comment on whether any arrests have been made in connection with the matter, as the investigation is still in its early stages.
"We have conducted interviews in connection with this, and we are conducting them all the time. The investigation is very active," Rentola says.
Rentola also declines to say why the case is being investigated specifically as a murder – disclosure of details could jeopardise the investigation.
The investigation is also establishing whether one or more persons are suspected of the crime.
The police are asking any potential witnesses to contact the authorities. Observations from Laajaniitynkuja between 20:00 and 23:00 on Wednesday are of particular interest.
