A black BMW car collided with a 17-year-old boy riding an electric scooter at a pedestrian crossing on Hulkontie in the Petonen district of Kuopio on Saturday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m., ess.fi reported.
Based on eyewitness observations, police suspect that the driver deliberately drove over the boy. The driver is suspected of attempted murder and aggravated drink-driving – according to police, he had been under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.
The victim was thrown onto the bonnet of the car and hung on the roof briefly before falling to the side of the road. He was taken to hospital.
Police located the car at a standstill and arrested a man and woman in their early twenties. Police are still investigating who was driving the car.
According to police, a young girl also narrowly avoided being hit by the car at the junction of Pitkälahdentie and Koppeloküja. Police are asking this person to get in touch.
