Man has harassed women at Matkus bus stops – police seek information
According to Hameensanomat.fi, Eastern Finland Police are investigating several harassment cases at the bus stops near Matkus shopping centre in Kuopio. The cases occurred during September and October and are being investigated as minor assaults and sexual harassment.
An unidentified man has approached women waiting for buses and grabbed or struck them from behind. According to Detective Senior Constable Aleksi Welin, the suspected individual is estimated to be 20–30 years old and was wearing a hoodie with the hood up during the incidents.
– The clothing may be somewhat unusual for this cool time of year, Welin states.
According to Welin, the situations have generally been brief. Two of the cases have been filed as criminal reports, and there are also reports of two other cases. An early indication possibly linked to the same perpetrator dates from March.
What is unusual about the cases is that the harasser has acted in the presence of witnesses.
– These are places where there have been people who could see it, Welin says.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the tip line on 0295 415 232 or by email at [email protected]. Anyone who becomes a victim of harassment should call the emergency number 112.
