According to Kaleva.fi, police have released further information about Friday evening's stabbing in Knuutilankangas in Oulu, the victim of which was a woman of foreign background who is a Finnish citizen.
The attack took place on a bicycle path near a playground. According to police assessment, the act was committed between 19.30 and 20.00. The suspected perpetrator left the scene towards Poikkimaantie along Oulu's main cycling route number 8, which becomes Maikkubaa at the underpass.
Police are asking a group of 4–5 teenage boys who were at the playground at the time of the incident to contact the authorities. The group left the scene before the act of violence, and police do not suspect them of any crime.
Police are also seeking witnesses regarding a man who was cycling in the area. Information about observations can be reported to the police tip line at 0295 416 194.
The Knuutilankangas case is understood to be the third attack on a person of foreign background in a short period in Oulu. Police are also aware of at least two cases in which a Finnish pedestrian has been pushed by a cyclist. The possible connection between the stabbing and earlier attacks is being investigated.
