On Sunday, a violent confrontation erupted in the Kortelan residential area of Rauma, leading to an investigation into a broad range of criminal offences. Authorities received an alert shortly before 5pm when witnesses reported an armed incident in the grounds of private houses.
Police officers who arrived at the scene detained three men on suspicion. A fourth person was arrested later. All those arrested are men: three younger men born in the 1990s and one older man born in the 1960s.
According to investigating officer Kimmo Hiltula, those involved knew each other already. The actions were motivated by relationships between the individuals.
One person was shot with a shotgun. However, the shooting did not result in life-threatening injuries. The weapon used was seized. None of those involved in the incident possessed a licence for it.
The investigation has revealed ten different criminal charges. The most serious are attempted manslaughter, attempted aggravated robbery, and aggravated firearms offence. Authorities have carried out house searches and seized material.
All four suspects remain in custody. The preliminary investigation is continuing.
