Murder threats against minister on social media – police investigating in Pirkanmaa region
The Central Finland Police Department is investigating threats published on the X service, which were directed at, among others, Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman.
Account of Left Alliance politician from Pirkanmaa linked to threats investigation
The Central Finland Police Department announced on Saturday that it is investigating threats published on the messaging service X, which were directed at police, other authorities and politicians. Police have not named the author of the posts, but the targets of the threats correspond to messages that appeared on the X account of Mika Tammi, a member of the Pirkanmaa Left Alliance district board — as reported by Ilta-Sanomat.
The messages included, among other things, a murder threat against Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman (ps). The X account in question is currently not visible.
Police reported that they have been investigating the posts throughout the day. According to current information, they were not associated with any concrete threat. Police nevertheless remind that even a false threat can meet the elements of a criminal offence.
Veera Kiretti, chair of the Pirkanmaa Left Alliance district board, told Ilta-Sanomat that the district has initiated a process to remove Tammi from the board. According to Kiretti, the district cannot, however, expel a member from the party — that is decided by local branches. Tammi could not be reached for comment.
