The preliminary investigation into a murder that occurred in Turku's Varissuon district has been completed. The suspected 43-year-old man has admitted to killing another man and storing his remains on the apartment balcony.

South-Western Finland police have concluded the preliminary investigation into a murder that took place in Turku's Varissuon district in early 2023. The matter will proceed to prosecution consideration.
A 43-year-old man has admitted to killing his 44-year-old victim in an apartment on 4 February. Police initially opened an investigation in March into what was reported as a missing person, but it became a murder investigation in April.
The investigation revealed that a dispute had occurred between the two men. As a result, the suspect struck the other man with a heavy tool. The victim died at the scene.
The perpetrator kept the victim's remains on the apartment balcony for over two months. He lived in the same flat throughout this period. Authorities found the body only on 20 April. Following this, the suspect was arrested and remanded in custody.
According to Yle's information, the man has a previous criminal history. He has previously been charged with, among other things, theft, drug offences, and assault.
