The autopsy performed on the 11-year-old girl found in an agricultural silo did not establish the cause of death. The Agen prosecution has requested additional examinations.
Lyhanna case: further expert examinations ordered after inconclusive autopsy
The autopsy carried out on Friday 5 June on the body of young Lyhanna did not make it possible to establish the exact circumstances of her death. The investigating magistrate therefore ordered additional analyses in an attempt to understand what happened.
The body of the 11-year-old child had been discovered the previous day, 4 June, hidden in a disused silo on agricultural land in the commune of Puycasquier, approximately fifteen kilometres from Fleurance, where she was last seen getting into the suspect's vehicle. The man had worked for six years at the farm that manages this site.
A former colleague of the suspect guided investigators to this location. He describes a very isolated place, in the middle of the countryside, out of use for several years, offering multiple possibilities for concealing a body. He knew the site well, having worked there himself alongside the person in question.
The forensic doctors were unable, at the conclusion of their initial findings, to indicate what the causes of death were. The prosecutor of Agen, Olivier Naboulet, specified in a statement that further examinations and expert assessments have been ordered and will be carried out.
The man placed under investigation and remanded in custody remains silent when questioned by investigators. They, equipped with photographs of his vehicle, are attempting to gather witness testimony. Approximately 1,700 motorists were checked in the area on 5 June.
A white march is planned for Sunday 7 June in Fleurance to pay tribute to the victim. Residents are expressing both their sadness and their anger. A local resident, a mother, testifies to her compassion for the parents. Another denounces the fact that the child fell into the hands of a predator who should have been imprisoned and not at large.
