Brother of main suspect in Lyhanna disappearance case charged with two rapes
Yannick B., the brother of Jérôme B. who is the main suspect in the case of the disappearance of young Lyhanna, has been arrested and charged in two rape cases. This was announced by prosecutor Olivier Naboulet of Auch, in the Gers department.
The suspect was questioned for the first time and was subsequently placed in police custody. During his interrogation, he exercised his right to silence. However, the judge decided to release him, but under judicial supervision. The public prosecutor's office, which had requested provisional detention, has appealed this decision. The Auch court of appeal must now rule on this appeal.
Yannick B. was arrested on Monday at the Auch police station. He was suspected of having raped a former partner with whom he had maintained a relationship between 2007 and 2011. Subsequently, a second ex-partner also filed a complaint against him for a rape committed in 2018.
Investigators clarified that these charges had no connection with the Lyhanna case. The two brothers no longer maintain any contact. Jérôme B., aged 41, remains the main suspect in the case concerning the disappearance of the eleven-year-old girl. Her body was discovered recently in the Gers department.
