France: 70,000 child abuse complaints to be examined urgently after death of 11-year-old girl
French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin ordered on Sunday that 70,000 complaints of child abuse be examined within five weeks, in response to the murder of Lyhanna, 11 years old. The 41-year-old suspect had previously been accused repeatedly of violence against children without ever being arrested.

French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin demanded on Sunday that 70,000 complaints related to child abuse be examined within a five-week period. This decision comes following the death of Lyhanna, a child of eleven years. The main suspect, a man of 41 years, had been the subject of multiple accusations of violence against children in the past, but he had at no point been placed in detention.
