Suspect in attempted murder apprehended in Kenitra, extradition underway
Moroccan security services arrested on Thursday 5 November in Kenitra a 27-year-old French national actively sought by French justice, according to lareleve.ma. The man is suspected of committing an attempted murder involving the use of a firearm in Montpellier in March 2025.
The suspect was in an irregular situation on Moroccan territory at the time of his arrest. An international arrest warrant had been issued against him by French judicial authorities, and a red notice by Interpol circulated at the request of Paris's Central National Bureau.
It was Kenitra's police prefecture that carried out the apprehension. On instruction from the competent prosecutor's office, the individual was immediately subjected to extradition proceedings.
The Central National Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, attached to the Directorate General of National Security, was tasked with informing its French counterpart of this arrest.
This operation is part of international police cooperation between Morocco and its foreign partners, and illustrates the mobilisation of Moroccan authorities to prevent national territory from serving as a refuge for individuals sought by justice on an international scale.
