Larissa Court of Appeals: Two motions rejected in Tempi trial
The session of the Three-Member Court of Criminal Appeals of Larissa for the railway disaster at Tempi began on Wednesday with the examination of two motions filed by lawyers supporting the prosecution, according to Newsbeast.
The court rejected the first motion, which concerned the transmission of the trial proceedings to an investigating magistrate of the Court of Cassation. This investigating magistrate has taken over the case of the former Transport Minister, Kostas Achilleas Karamanlis, who was referred by parliament for the misdemeanour of breach of duty in connection with the Tempi disaster.
The second motion was also rejected, which concerned the submission of a document of communication between the State Legal Council and the former deputy minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Kostas Kyranakis. This document concerned the representation of the Greek State in the trial before the Three-Member Court of Criminal Appeals.
The court subsequently proceeded to examine motions that had been filed in previous sessions. These motions concern the audiovisual coverage and broadcasting of the trial, as well as the personal presence of the defendants during the examination of the case. These motions remain pending from previous sessions.
