Tempi: Court dismisses Bar Associations and PYPE from 10th hearing
The three-judge criminal court of appeals in Larissa decided to dismiss the Bar Associations and the Panhellenic Union of Train Personnel (PYPE), while accepting the appearance of the Greek State against the station masters.

The three-judge criminal court of appeals in Larissa decided by majority vote to dismiss the Bar Associations and the Panhellenic Union of Train Personnel (PYPE) from the trial proceedings concerning the tragedy at Tempi, according to thepressproject.gr. At the same time, the court accepted the declaration of appearance by the Greek State.
The decision regarding the Bar Associations was made with the disagreement of the court president, who expressed a dissenting opinion. The appearance of the Greek State is directed exclusively against the three accused station masters and the then-head of the Larissa Inspection Department of the Traffic Support Service for Central and Southern Greece.
The court also accepted the declarations concerning the offence of breach of duty for three of the 36 accused persons, in relation to the procedure for the station master's transfer.
The prosecutor had recommended a different course: acceptance of the declarations of the Bar Associations only for the offence of disruption of transport security, rejection of the declarations of PYPE and the Greek State, as well as rejection of all declarations concerning breach of duty.
The defence counsel, concluding their submissions on the prosecutor's proposal, characterised the appearance of the Bar Associations as "clear grounds for reversal" and raised questions of legal certainty and possible violation of the proportionality principle.
After the decisions on appearances, more than 150 parties and represented parties now participate in the trial — the majority of them relatives of victims, injured persons and survivors of the railway collision.
The court president had previously announced that at today's 10th hearing, requests concerning audiovisual coverage and broadcast of the trial would be examined, as well as the personal appearance of the accused. The proceedings are ongoing.
