Drunk and intoxicated driver without licence sentenced to €4,000 fine in Zagreb
Police in Novi Zagreb stopped a 54-year-old man for not wearing a seatbelt. It was determined that he was driving while intoxicated (1.65 g/kg), under the influence of drugs (amphetamine, cocaine) and without a valid driving licence. The fine exceeds €4,000.

On Monday afternoon, at around 15:30, police officers on Baloković Street in Novi Zagreb stopped a vehicle with Zagreb registration plates. The driver, a 54-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt.
A more detailed inspection revealed that the man had 1.65 g/kg of alcohol in his blood. Tests also showed the presence of amphetamine and cocaine. Furthermore, it turned out that his driving licence was not valid – it had been withdrawn because he had failed to attend a mandatory medical examination.
He was arrested and taken to the police station, and then brought before a misdemeanour court. The prosecution sought a two-month prison sentence and a year-long ban on driving. However, the judge imposed a monetary fine exceeding €4,000.
