Police operations against armed gangs in several strategic sectors
Since Sunday 18 October, the Haitian National Police (PNH), supported by the Task Force and the Security Section of the GSF, has been conducting armed interventions against criminal groups in several areas of the country, according to vantbefinfo.com based on an official statement from the institution.
The operations specifically target the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, Croix-des-Missions, Santo, Marasa and the Dyo corridor. Their stated objective: to dismantle the positions of armed groups, neutralise their members and reduce violence affecting civilian populations.
According to the report issued by the PNH, several gang members were killed during these operations, whilst area commanders and soldiers were wounded. The institution also states that it deployed several armoured vehicles to support field interventions. However, the statement provides neither the exact number of casualties nor details of any weapons seizures carried out.
Operations are also continuing in the Las Vegas sector and the Dyo corridor, where the presence of armed groups continues to be reported. The Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) are carrying out security missions in areas close to the capital.
The PNH affirms its intention to maintain pressure on armed groups and restore public order. According to information reported, the lasting effectiveness of these operations will depend on the sustained securing of the affected areas and the improvement of living conditions for residents.
