A man approached one of the uniformed officers patrolling the city centre and reported that he had been assaulted and robbed a few minutes earlier. The police questioned two young people in the vicinity of the scene who matched the victim's physical description.
According to the account reconstructed during questioning, the 14-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl met the 48-year-old man near a tobacconist's shop during the evening. They noticed that he had money on him. The girl decided they would take his money and persuaded her companion to steal his wallet.
When the man set off for home, the young people began to follow him. The boy first attempted to discreetly take the wallet from his back pocket, but this was unsuccessful. He then assaulted the victim, kicking him in the back, and took the wallet containing 27,000 forints from the man who had fallen to the ground. The young people then fled. The man was not injured.
