A 42-year-old intoxicated man in Šiauliai district lost control of an electric vehicle whilst driving, collided with road infrastructure and left the accident scene. Officers found him at his home; an alcohol breath test showed nearly double the permitted limit.

A traffic accident involving an intoxicated vehicle driver occurred in Šiauliai district last Sunday evening. Police officers documented the incident.
At approximately 20:20 in Bubiai village, a 42-year-old man was driving a Nissan Leaf. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway. The road verge was severely damaged and a road sign was broken off.
Following the incident, the man left the accident scene. However, law enforcement officers quickly located him at his place of residence. Upon inspection, it was established that the man's blood alcohol content was 1.74 per mille.
On the basis of this fact, a pre-trial investigation was initiated under the Criminal Code article regulating the operation of motor vehicles while intoxicated.
