Police to release information on Starlink equipment arson in Vilnius
Lithuanian police will hold a press conference on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Police Headquarters, at which the latest information on the investigation into the Starlink antenna arson will be announced, reports delfi.lt.
The conference will be attended by deputy head of the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau Saulius Briginas and chief prosecutor of the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office Nėrijus Puškorius.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted into an attempted arson attack on Starlink communications equipment located at a Vilnius company — suspected property damage caused in a manner dangerous to the public.
Head of the National Crisis Management Centre Vilmantas Vitkauskas has explained that the US company SpaceX rents premises from a Lithuanian company — the Starlink infrastructure operating here ensures connectivity for residents, business and the armed forces.
The incident occurred on the night of 18 October at approximately 2.30 a.m. on Jurgis Tiškevičius Street in Vilnius: an attempt was made to set fire to a satellite communications antenna on the fenced company premises. Firefighters were called to the scene, but the fire extinguished itself before they arrived.
