A Lithuanian court has imposed a strict sentence on Agnė Šilickienė, an adviser to former Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, in a corruption case that ended his political career. Journalists from the Lithuanian portal "15min.lt" reported on the latest developments in this case.

S. Skvernelis held the position of Prime Minister of the Lithuanian Republic from 2016 to 2020. He was later elected to the Lithuanian Seimas. In April of this year, the Lithuanian General Prosecutor's Office granted the former head of government suspect status in a bribery case related to the State Plant Service, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the case being investigated by law enforcement, a bribery scheme worth millions of euros features. This scandal had a significant impact on S. Skvernelis's political future and ultimately terminated his participation in state governance.
