According to delfi.lt, on 6 June at approximately 9:50, a man called the general emergency centre and stated that an explosive device had been placed at a sports club on J. Basanavičiaus Street in Utena.
No explosives or suspicious objects were found during the inspection. The "Shield" plan was not activated.
Officers detained the man (born 1984) who made the false report and he was remanded in custody. A blood alcohol level of 1.93 per mille was recorded.
A pre-trial investigation was launched under Article 285(1) of the Lithuanian Criminal Code — for making a false report of danger to the public. For this offence, if emergency services were called as a result, the penalties are community service, a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest, or imprisonment for up to one year.
