Following an incident on Vairo Street in which a man and his SUV were shot at with a firearm, police detained two suspects in Jonava.

On Wednesday around 12.20 p.m., an incident occurred on Vairo Street in Šiauliai city during which a firearm was allegedly used. A person born in 1991 was injured, and his BMW X6 was damaged. Medical staff provided assistance to the wounded man, who is currently being treated in an unspecified manner.
Initially, this situation was treated as a public order violation. However, information gathered during the investigation allowed officers to reasonably believe that the aim was to take the life of the man in the car. In light of this, investigators immediately reclassified the act as an attempted murder.
On the same day, around 7 p.m., two men were detained in Jonava – one born in 1990, the other in 1985. Prosecutors plan to request that the court impose arrest as a preventive measure for them.
Investigation measures are continuing in order to clarify all details of this incident.
