Jurbarko police have detained a person suspected of drug trafficking following an investigation. Approximately 150 grammes of cocaine and 100 grammes of cannabis were found in his possession. The suspect has been remanded in custody.

On 14 July 2026, Jurbarko police officers detained a local resident who is suspected of drug trafficking. Officers, having conducted a thorough information-gathering operation, established that the man may have been carrying and distributing prohibited substances not only in his native Jurbarko, but also in Marijampolė and Vilkaviškyje. The investigation revealed that the dealer was using the so-called "drop" method – concealing parcels in public places, often near educational institutions, which made it easier for minors to access drugs.
During the operation, officers inspected the detainee's clothing and vehicle – they discovered numerous vacuum-sealed packages containing what are believed to be cocaine and cannabis. Two additional bags containing what may be a narcotic substance were also found in his garage in Jurbarko.
The total amount of seized substances reaches approximately 150 grammes of suspected cocaine and about 100 grammes of possible cannabis.
A case has been opened under article 260 of the Criminal Code. The investigation is being led by the Marijampolė district prosecutor's office, which falls under the Kaunas district. The court ordered that the detainee be remanded in custody.
Police chief Edgaras Charisovas emphasises the importance of public assistance in combating drug trafficking. He urges citizens, if they notice suspicious individuals, concealed objects, or unidentified packages, to contact law enforcement immediately.
