Explosive device found in basement of Kaunas Riflemen's Union – "Shield" plan activated
A possible explosive device was found during repairs at the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union premises in Kaunas, prompting activation of the "Shield" plan and evacuation of people.

On Wednesday in Kaunas, at the premises of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union (LŠS) located on Laisvės alley, the "Shield" plan was activated. The reason was the discovery of an object resembling an explosive during repairs to the basement. According to preliminary information, it may have been an artillery projectile.
Odeta Vaitkevičienė, a representative of Kaunas police, reported that the call was received at 11.08. Due to the potential danger, people were evacuated from the building. Firefighters, ambulance services and police officers arrived at the scene. Special forces "Aras" sappers were expected.
At approximately 13.40, the "Shield" plan was called off. Special forces officers safely removed the item.
Aušra Garnienė, a representative of the LŠS, confirmed that an old object resembling an explosive was found during repairs to the basement premises. This was immediately reported to the special services.
