Kaunas Regional Court on Friday signed an order for Antanas Kandrotas-Celofano to be admitted to a penal institution. The convicted man is apparently already in Belarus.

On Friday, Vija Kudzienė, assistant to the chairman of Kaunas Regional Court for communications, confirmed that the court had already signed a document requiring police to take custody of a person sentenced to deprivation of liberty and deliver him to a penal institution. This order was handed over to police.
The document was signed around one o'clock. If everything proceeds smoothly, Kaunas district police officers could depart that same Friday to Kulautuva, where Kandrotas lived before fleeing. However, officers had not yet received the official court document by Friday midday – it was still being uploaded into the electronic system, so they had to wait.
Although video recordings show that the man has already left Lithuania and ended up in a neighbouring state, law enforcement must complete all procedures: verify the declared place of residence, contact relatives. Only after that can an international search be announced. It is likely this will happen next week.
The Court of Appeals on Thursday upheld the sentence under which a 45-year-old repeat offender was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. The sentence was initially four years, but judges quashed some episodes. The convicted man did not attend the court hearing and admitted he was in Belarus. He publicly stated that he would not return to his homeland.
