Aggressive inmate released for weekend causes incident in Kėdainiai
On Sunday morning in Kėdainiai, in a flat on Šėtos Street, police officers had to calm a severely agitated man. The Kaunas District Police received a report of possible violence at approximately 10:33 a.m.
When patrol officers arrived, a man born in 1982 locked himself in the flat and refused to open the door. He did not comply with lawful orders, so officers called in employees of the Kėdainiai Fire and Rescue Service. They helped gain entry to the premises.
When the door was opened, the man behaved hostilely – he swore profusely, insulted police officers, resisted detention and refused to undergo a sobriety test. It emerged that this person had been released from a correctional facility for the weekend. Following the incident, he was handed over to prison service supervisors.
A protocol was drawn up against the offender under Article 506, Section 4 and Article 508, Section 1 of the Lithuanian Code of Administrative Offences. For both offences, a fine of between 90 and 140 euros was imposed.
