The prosecutor of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor's Office, having assessed the material gathered during the investigation, drew up an indictment and referred the case to court. In it, 24-year-old A. S. is accused of murdering another man.
The tragic conflict arose last October in Marijampolė. Early in the morning, around 6 o'clock, the defendant was drinking alcoholic beverages in a group of friends. Later, he attacked a man who was staying with them. According to case materials, the attacker became angry at the guest over rumours he had previously spread about him.
The violence was extremely brutal. A. S. struck the victim in the head with an axe, and when the victim collapsed, kicked him several times. The victim died at the scene of the incident.
In the case referred to court, the man is charged with murder. For such a crime, imprisonment from seven to fifteen years is threatened.
